We seek skilled and reliable Solid Plasterers to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying various types of solid plaster to interior and exterior surfaces, ensuring a high-quality finish that meets project specifications and client expectations. This role requires a strong understanding of plastering techniques, materials, and safety regulations within the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces for plastering, including cleaning, applying bonding agents, and installing lath or other reinforcement materials as required.   

     

  • Mix plaster to the correct consistency according to manufacturer instructions and project requirements.

     

  • Apply various types of solid plaster, including but not limited to:

    • Traditional sand and cement plaster
    • Lime plaster
    • Gypsum-based plasters

       

  • Apply multiple coats of plaster to achieve the desired thickness and finish.

     

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools to apply, level, and smooth plaster surfaces.

     

  • Create different plaster finishes, such as smooth, textured, or decorative finishes, as specified.

     

  • Repair and restore existing plasterwork.

     

  • Work from blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.

     

  • Measure and cut materials accurately.

     

  • Ensure work is completed to a high standard of quality and within agreed timelines.

     

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

     

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.

     

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and other tradespeople on site.

     

  • Report any issues or potential delays to the supervisor.

     

  • Assist with other general site duties as required.

 

Requirements and Skills:

  • Level 4 NZ Certificate in Trowel Trades Solid Plastering or Proprietary Plaster Cladding Systems, or at least three years of relevant experience.

     

  • Site Safe passport, an advantage.

     

  • First aid certificate is an advantage.

     

  • Thorough knowledge of different types of solid plaster, their applications, and mixing ratios.

     

  • Proficiency in applying various plastering techniques and finishes.

     

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

     

  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations within the construction industry.

     

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

     

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

     

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

     

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.   

     

  • Physical fitness and the ability to handle the job's demands, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights.

     

  • Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.

     

  • Must be an NZ Citizen, NZ Resident, or eligible to work in NZ.

 

The successful applicants will also have the opportunity to work in different locations (Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Nelson-Tasman, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago and Southland), providing a unique chance to explore New Zealand's diverse regions.

 

This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$30 and NZ$40, depending on experience and qualification. The work hours are from 30 hours minimum to 70 hours maximum per week, and they are to be worked between Monday and Friday, between 7 am and 5 pm. They may be required to work on weekends.
