Job description:

  • Consult with clients to determine objectives, requirements, and budget of the project
  • Formulate design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, and conducive to the intended purpose
  • Prepare sketches, diagrams, illustrations, and plans to communicate design ideas
  • Select and recommend furniture, materials, colour schemes, lighting, and other design elements
  • Develop detailed drawings and documentation using CAD software and/or hand-drawn drafts
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and other professionals to ensure successful implementation of designs
  • Supervise and inspect design implementation to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards
  • Stay updated with current design trends, materials, and technologies
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and health and safety regulations

 

Job pre-requisites:

  • A tertiary qualification in Architecture, Interior Design, Spatial Design, Fine Arts, or a related field is required
  • At least three years of relevant work experience may substitute for the qualification
  • Excellent communication, presentation and client management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a creative mind
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
