The Cleaner and Support Worker plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and supporting tradespeople across residential and commercial projects. This includes cleaning tiled areas, carpets, and upholstery, preparing and tidying work sites, and assisting with tiling, painting, and general renovation tasks. The role ensures equipment is well-maintained, workspaces are safe and organized, and clients receive excellent service. It contributes to efficient project delivery and a high-quality finish across all tasks performed.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 01-year experience as a cleaner/labourer or a level 3 qualification in cleaning
- Full Driver license required
- Requirement to pass a drug test
- Clean criminal record
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning tiled areas after installation, including removal of dust, adhesive residue, grout haze, and other debris.
- Cleaning carpets and upholstered furniture using cleaning machine and their attachments.
- Selecting and applying cleaning agents to remove stains from carpets. Windows and surfaces.
- Filling carpets cleaning machines with water and other cleaning agents.
- Moving and covering furniture as necessary to facilitate cleaning and protect it.
- Potentially assisting with carpet installation, upholstery repair, or tile and grout cleaning
- Providing excellent customer service, explaining cleaning processes, and addressing customer concerns
- Ensuring proper maintenance and operation of cleaning equipment.
- Assisting with preparation for painting jobs, including sanding surfaces, taping edges, and protecting floors and fixtures.
- Cleaning up paint spills, splatters, and used materials (e.g. brushes, rollers, trays) after full-house painting jobs.
- Supporting tradespeople with general labour tasks during home renovation or upgrade projects.
- Sweeping and vacuuming floors to remove construction dust and leftover materials.
- Mopping and wiping down tiled surfaces to ensure a clean and finished appearance.
- Disposing of tiling waste, packaging, and other debris in accordance with site procedures.
- Ensuring work areas are kept tidy during and after tiling work.
- Cleaning and organizing tools and equipment used on-site.
- Assisting with final site clean-up to prepare the area for handover to the client.
- Adhering to health and safety procedures while working on residential or commercial tiling sites.
- Performing general labouring tasks to support the tiler and overall worksite cleanliness.
- Assisting the tiler with transporting tiles, tools, and materials to and from the work area.
- Mixing adhesives, grouts, and mortar under supervision, as required for tiling projects.
- Helping to lay out tile patterns and prepping surfaces by cleaning and levelling them.
- Removing old tiles, grout, and adhesive as part of the preparation process.
- Cleaning up excess adhesive and grout after tile installation.
- Maintaining tools and ensuring the tiling area is clean and safe for ongoing work.
- Supporting tilers by holding or cutting tiles as directed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry materials, potentially including heavy equipment.
- Ability to move around the site, including bending, kneeling, and climbing.
- Ability to work on weekends.
