SP Insurance is based in Auckland and looking for an experienced auditor. The Internal Auditor is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within the business. This role involves conducting audits, identifying areas for improvement, and providing recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Audit Planning and Execution:
  • Develop and execute audit plans to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, compliance with laws and regulations, and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct audits across various departments and functions, including financial, operational, and compliance audits.
Risk Assessment:
  • Identify and evaluate risks that could impact the organization’s objectives and operations.
  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls designed to mitigate identified risks.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare detailed audit reports that include findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Communicate audit results and provide recommendations to management and stakeholders.
Compliance and Regulation:
  • Ensure that the organization adheres to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Interpreting regulations and advising a company on how to meet compliance standards and avoid violations.
  • Identifying possible areas of non-compliance and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Providing training and guidance to employees on compliance related matters to ensure they perform their duties in accordance with regulations.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and adjust audit procedures accordingly
  • Maintaining documentation of all compliance activities, such as issue tracking and resolution to assist in potential audits.
  • Overseeing internal investigations into compliance issues and submitting reports to management.
Follow-Up:
  • Track and follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations to ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented solutions and provide feedback.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for improving processes, controls, and efficiency within the organization.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in internal auditing.
Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other departments to understand business processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of transparency and accountability within the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CIA, CPA) is preferred.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in internal auditing, accounting, financing or a related field.
