This is a key operational role that involves the efficient and safe transportation of goods across various routes. The ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of transport regulations, excellent driving records, and a commitment to punctuality and vehicle care.
You will be paid $29 -$35 per hour depending on your experience. You will work a minimum of 30 hours and a maximum of 60 hours a week. The job will be based in greater Wellington region.
Key Responsibilities:
•Safely operate vehicles to deliver general freight to various sites across greater Wellington region and occasionaly nationwide.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and routine maintenance checks.
• Work closely with operations team to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle maintenance, and any incidents.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and industry regulations.
• Drive heavy trucks, requiring a specially endorsed Class 4 or 5 licence.
• Maneuver vehicles for safe loading and unloading.
• Ensure proper weight distribution and secure goods to prevent loss or damage.
• Check the condition of the load and make sure it's secure.
• Keep appropriate records of and check invoices for materials they are carrying.
Work Conditions:
• Must be available for early mornings, late evenings, and weekend shifts.
• Willingness to travel long distances and stay overnight when required.
• Work on a rotating shift schedule (day & night).
Qualifications & Experience:
• Relevant qualification or minimum 1 year of relevant work experience is required
• Must have a valid clean Class 4 and 5 NZ Driver Licence or an equivalent overseas licence eligible for conversion.
• Strong knowledge of road transport laws and regulations.
• Experience in truck maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Must pass a drug and alcohol test and have a clean criminal record.
• Commitment to health, safety, and compliance standards.
