Job Overview:
As a Carpenter and Joiner, you will construct, install, renovate, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials. You will also cut, shape, and fit timber parts to form structures and fittings, ensuring the farm's infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Study drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions, and installation procedures.
- Order and select timbers and materials, and prepare layouts.
- Cut materials, assemble, and nail cut and shaped parts.
- Erect framework and roof framing, lay sub-flooring and floorboards, and verify the trueness of structures.
- Nail fascia panels, sheath roofs, and fit exterior wall cladding, door, and window frames.
- Assemble prepared wood to form structures and fittings ready for installation.
- Construct concrete formwork and repair existing fittings as needed.
- Work with plastic laminates, perspex, and metals when required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- NZQF Level 4 qualification or;
- At least 2 years working experience in carpentry and joinery
- Proven experience in constructing and installing wooden structures and fixtures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Registration or licensing may be required.
