Job Title: Hide and Skin Processing Worker

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Performs routine tasks in salting sheepskins
• Handle and clean raw sheepskins delivered daily from the abattoirs.
• Operate salting drums to salt the sheepskins and ensure proper preservation.
• Inspects and tests green skins or hides, for size, cleanliness, colour, markings and quality, and sorts into lots for drying or salting.
• Inspects and sorts dried or salted sheepskins for baling.
• Directs assistants in artificial drying, stacking, folding and baling
• Assistants in the collection and laying out of sheepskins
• Records information such as quantity and quality of skins.
• Inspecting and sorting salted skins for thickness, size and and wool length

Pay Rate: $26.5 -$31.25 / hour

Guaranteed hours of work per week: Minimum 30 hours. Permanent full-time

Requirements for the job:

• No qualification or work experience is required.
• Be able to do late shift (3PM-11PM)
• Be physically capable
• Full time availability
• May work on weekends
• No criminal record
• Candidates need to be NZ citizens/residents
