Job Summary:

Location of the job: Canterbury  

Hours of Work: A minimum of 40 hours per week  

Pay Range: NZD70,000 to NZD90,000 (based on the skills and experience)

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:  

1)     Studying drawings, production detail sheets and specifications to determine suitable material, job requirements and ensure ongoing production efficiencies are met

2)     Settings, programming, fine tuning and operating CNC off-coil machines to meet detailed production shapes within the manufacturing tolerances.

3)     Safe and efficient handling of structural reinforcing steel stock products in preparation for each inline processing function

4)    Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies

5)    Form metal stock using manual machine tools and CNC bending equipment to cut and bend material to meet detailed product shapes within the manufacturing tolerances

6)    Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts to ensure production specifications are met

7)    Accurate cutting/ Shearing of structural reinforcing steel using machine tools and CNC metal shearing machines to meet production batch sizes, bundle lengths and weights

8)      Fabricate structural reinforcing steel components for specific jobs using hand tools and welding equipment

9)      Check all hand tools and test equipment to comply with the company’s production procedures and Health and Safety policy

10)   Maintain and monitor production Quality Assurance (QA) within predetermined limits and escalate non-performance

11)   Work together with the Production Manager to identify and eliminate problems in the production process and assist in the improvement of production procedures

12)   Maintain production equipment to the required standards by diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines repairing when appropriate, under the guidance of production manager

13)  Carryout dispatch functions utilizing overhead gantry cranes and forklifts to meet customers’ requirements and transport rules

Job Requirements 

• Must have three years of relevant steel/metal fabrication industry experience.

• Punctual and reliable 

• Great verbal communication skills  

• Ability to maintain a positive attitude 

• Ability to lift and manipulate large metal objects. 

• Ability to stand for long periods.

Role liaises with:

·         All staff in branch — particularly metal fabricators, steel fixers, truck drivers, factory and office staff and management
