McCaffrey and Cable Consultants (MaCC) is a Waikato based professional services consultancy with a focus on delivering high-quality infrastructure for future communities.  At our core we are specialists in civil & geotechnical engineering, project management, and civil construction management. We are problem solvers and like to find new and innovative ways to deliver our services. We are looking for a talented Civil Engineering Technician to join the Team in Cambridge.

Key Duties include: 

  • Undertaking civil and geotechnical related project tasks under the oversight of
    senior team members.
  • Planning workload and working within established budgets for civil and
    geotechnical work packages.
  • Interpretation of designs and preparation of geotechnical testing schedules.
  • Travel to and from project sites for undertaking construction observations or collecting and undertaking geotechnical testing.
  • Analysing field testing results and preparation of testing reports.
  • Actively assisting senior Engineers in various tasks related to general project delivery
  • Assist with construction management and site observations based on knowledge of relevant New Zealand standards and QA procedures.
  • Inspecting completed projects for compliance with industry codes, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Engagement in continued personal and business improvement with involvement in meetings, systems, training, and QA.
  • Engaging in good health and safety practice by following established MaCC processes and actively seeking improvement.
  • Participating fully in general management meetings and client events related to the company.
  • Taking steps to understand and deliver client needs in line with business objectives.

Core Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Relevant civil engineering qualification (Diploma or higher)
  • Computer skills, including the ability to use MS Office software and
    relevant computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Proficiency in geotechnical field testing procedures and reporting
  • Competent in written and verbal communication

Minimum guaranteed hours: 40 per week
