Fit out, installation and rigging of new and second hand boats and trailers. Ranging from full fit ups on boats 4 to 18+ m, to electronics package installations, to insurance repairs, to water pressure systems, re-wiring etc. Includes windscreens, bilge pumping, steering, electrical/wiring, jet units, outboards, inboards, seating, plumbing etc.

Based just a 15 minute drive from the north of Christchurch, Icon Marine Manufacturing Ltd is a progressive boat building company with an impressive reputation globally.  As a company our diversely skilled, close knit team manufacture, sell, service and repair a diverse range of boats, including Ramco, Kwikkraft, and Icon Custom Boats, as well as custom alloy trailers and periodic general fabrication projects in aluminium and mild steel.

Our boats have been exported to all corners of the globe and range in size from 3.6m dinghies to 18m + monohulls and catamarans in both the pleasure and commercial markets.

Due to current workload, positions have arisen within the company for the immediate start of a competent individual to complete installation of boat systems. While most of the work to be undertaken will be new boat and trailer builds, there is always a steady flow of repair and customisation work that comes in via our Icon Marine Hub service workshop.

The ideal applicant will be enthusiastic, motivated, competent with cordless tools, air tools, cutting, drilling, tapping etc. Ability to follow instructions is a must but equally beneficial is the ability to problem solve and offer solutions to achieve customers needs.  The installation of boat systems is a unique type of roll as while production boat fitting is somewhat standardised, custom boat fitting can and does involve regular problem solving which must be done in a timely manner. This roll could suit a motor home trimmer, auto-sparky or someone who while not necessarily qualified has a broad range of skills and understanding of 'how things work'. The following attributes are also must haves;

1.     Attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards at all times

3.     Good punctuality and time keeping

4.     Ability to maximise efficiency day to day no matter the project

5.     Ability to work un-supervised

6.     Ability to read and interpret plans

7.     Be a good team player and get on with others

8.     A high level of pride in workmanship

Remuneration will be directly proportionate to the proven skills of the right applicant on completion of a trial period (max. 90 days). Demonstration of a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to solve problems or put forward suggestions about how to achieve a customer’s goal within the trial period will make a candidate stand out from the crowd.

The standard hours of work are 8 – 5 Monday to Thursday, 8 – 4 Friday. As per the needs of the business, over time may be required from time to time, including evenings and weekends as dictated by deadlines.
