Westland Mining is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of our gold mining site. The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and maintain accurate records of the company’s financial transactions related to mining operations. This is a permanent full-time position, and you are required to work 40 hours per week within the regular business hours from Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintained and updated general ledgers, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and inventory records.
- Process and verify supplier invoices, employee expense claims, and purchase orders.
- Prepare and issue payment vouchers and receipts, as well as reconcile petty cash.
- Record financial transactions and reconcile bank statements.
- Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to verify purchase orders, invoices, and supplier payments.
- Input financial transactions into the accounting system accurately and on time.
- Monitor and manage budgets, cost controls, and expenditure related to mining operations.
- Help with payroll preparation and process payroll for mine workers, including overtime and shift allowances.
- Assist with financial audits, regulatory reporting, and tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, mining regulations, and internal policies.
- Provide administrative support to the finance and site management team as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field. OR
- At least 2 years of relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document handling.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a team and handle confidential financial information.
