We are looking to rebuild the Oceanix team again after farewelling our recent crew overseas to the superyachts.
About the Company: Oceanix Yacht Care is an industry-leading boat maintenance specialist providing wash downs, cut and polish, interior valets, and exterior detailing to premium standards, using the highest quality products and equipment. As certified application specialists for Feynlab, they can apply top-grade marine and vehicle-hydrophobic ceramic coatings, providing essential protection from the elements and the ultimate superior and highly sought-after finishes for owners who want to look after their investment on the water.
Being mobile and equipped for all jobs, Oceanix Yacht Care can be found at the Tauranga Bridge and Sulphur Point Marinas and Drystack, working on yachts and powerboats - on the water, in the yard, or inside an airport hangar, polishing trailer boats and occasionally luxury cars. They also travel to maintain vessels and high-end vehicles on-site, at home, or in the Pauanui and Whitianga waterways.
Oceanix is Fully Insured and approved to work in marinas and shipyards around the Bay of Plenty and Coromandel.
About the Job: This work involves wash-downs and detailing, using hand-held machinery for gel coat oxidization removal, cutting, polishing, and wax application; repair and restoration of teak decks and stainless steel; engine room and interior cabin clean; strada glass and water spot removal and window treatments; vinyl and carpet steam cleans, and more as required by our discerning boat owners.
Oceanix is a great employer, according to the crew who return year-on-year. We have employed engineers, deckhands, and even captains home on rotations, or between seasons. We also help STCW holders gain much sought-after experience and get their start in the superyacht industry.
About You: Due to the seasonal nature of the work and varying hours, we are not looking to fill a permanent full-time position right now, but we could provide ongoing casual work and plenty of hours for the right person who is keen to utilize their skills and experience from working in the marine or superyacht industry.

We are ideally looking for someone who:
- Has previous polishing/boat washing/detailing experience.
- Enjoys working outdoors and is strong enough to handle tools and machinery in a physically demanding job.
- Has a good eye for detail and a passion for perfection.
- Flexible to work casual hours between Monday to Friday, when the weather permits.
- Is an NZ Citizen / Resident, or has a current Work Visa.
- A car license is preferred, as you may be required to drive the van.
- You live in the Tauranga region and have reliable transport to get to work locally.
- Ideally, you will have hands-on experience using polishing tools.
- You may hold an STCW and have experience on superyachts, or be serious about learning valuable skills to enter the industry.
