Carpenter

Major Construction Ltd is an Auckland based company. We are now looking for multiple Carpenters to join us. This is a full time role with at least 30 hours per week.

Main task: 

Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, wallboard and other construction materials, and cut, shape, and fit timber parts to support the construction projects.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Uses building blueprints and diagrams to determine the proper dimensions, shape and design of a form structure.
• Select and work with materials such as wood, plastic, fibreglass, concrete
• Build timber and concrete forms
• Use precise measurements to cut and assemble boards, timbers or plywood to the necessary size
• Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures
• Secure the form with nails, bolts, screws or anchor rods.
• Once the form is secure, concrete is poured between the walls of the form. The concrete is moulded and shaped by the design of the form as it cures and
• Build stairs, mantles, and furniture
• Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure
• Work on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings

The successful candidate must have:

·       At least one year, ideally two or above years of working experience or a formal NZ Level 4  (or equivalent ) qualification

·       Good work attitude and good communication skills

·       Strong motivation

·       Physical fitness and could handle the heavy workload

·       Quality workmanship and eye for detail

·       Strong dedication to health and workplace safety

·       Excellent interpersonal skills to work with other team members.

·       Strong ability to work independently
