Think pump stations, valve chambers, trunk mains, water and wastewater networks, and mechanical components of municipal systems. Project values typically range from $1M to $20M — large enough to be interesting, but small enough to stay hands-on from start to finish.
The Role
You’ll act as the consultancy’s eyes and ears on site — liaising with contractors, ensuring construction aligns with design intent, and keeping projects moving smoothly. While this isn’t a design-heavy role, your design knowledge will be vital in problem-solving and collaborating with the office team. Expect to spend most of your time on site, coordinating with contractors, reviewing submittals, monitoring progress, and providing technical guidance.
What They’re Looking For

A civil engineer with 5–15 years’ experience

Strong background in site-based work (contractor or consultant-side)

Familiarity with water infrastructure: pump stations, chambers, pipework, mechanical fittings

Confident reviewing drawings, specifications, and contractor submissions

Some design experience is essential — enough to understand the process and collaborate effectively

Excellent communication and site coordination skills

Ideally CPEng or working towards it
