Mechanics

Fair Auto Dismantlers Limited is a well-established business headquartered in Christchurch, with a second branch in Wellington. Due to ongoing growth, we seek to fill positions for Mechanics to join our busy team.

Candidates must be able to be based in Christchurch, according to the business needs. Starting pay offered from 33-38 hourly will be fixed according to the experience for 30-40 hours a week, however, this will be reviewed periodically. Any overtime will be paid as per the above pay rate.

Responsibilities:

Vehicle Diagnosis and Repair: Identify faults in engines and systems, and carry out necessary repairs or replacements to restore proper function.

Dismantling and Parts Removal: Safely dismantle vehicles and remove reusable parts for resale or recycling, ensuring careful handling and documentation.

Routine Servicing: Perform regular maintenance tasks such as oil and filter changes, coolant replacement, and basic mechanical checks.

Structural and Frame Work: Conduct body and frame alignment or repairs using appropriate tools and equipment (e.g. chassis machine, measuring tools).

Vehicle Modification and Upgrade: Carry out minor modifications or performance enhancements as requested by the company or customers.

Customer Interaction: Communicate clearly with customers regarding vehicle issues, repair options, and cost estimates, ensuring professional service.

Requirements:

At least two years of relevant automotive mechanical experience. Alternatively, a Level 4 qualification in the auto area is required

Experience in vehicle dismantling, mechanical repairs, or automotive servicing.

Familiarity with using diagnostic tools and chassis measurement equipment.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Good communication and customer service skills.

Be able to work on weekends. The successful candidate must not have any criminal convictions and can pass drug tests.
