Accountant

Our client is a leading accounting, tax, and advisory service provider to small and medium-sized businesses in Sydney and across Australia. They have a large international client portfolio with a commercial focus towards clients, with client mentoring and support at the core of their business model.

The Position
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the team. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality accounting and advisory services to our growing portfolio of small and medium-sized business clients across a range of industries.

The Role
Key responsibilities:

• Manage and administer your portfolio of clients, providing technical support, feedback and guidance to team members assisting with your clients.
• Contribute to client written advice including both Australian and international clients.
• Be involved in providing Virtual CFO services and supporting the Director with board presentations and commercial support to our larger business clients.
• Provide tax planning services across existing complex business structures and new structures.
• Prepare and manage accounts, income tax returns, and BAS returns, along with clear and concise work papers to support the work performed.
• Handle various tax matters such as CGT calculations, FBT and Div7a, trust distributions & GST reconciliations.
• Use your technical expertise to provide advice to complex business groups.

The Candidate 
Desirable skills or qualifications:

• At least 5 years of post-qualification experience in a senior accounting role, preferably within a professional services or advisory firm.
• You will be mentoring and guiding clients across commercial business areas, so a commercial approach to clients is essential.
• Excellent technical accounting skills and a strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Proven experience in providing strategic financial advice and recommendations to clients.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
• A proactive and solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant accounting qualifications, such as CA or CPA, are highly desirable.
