Position: Engineering Projects & Maintenance Supervisor
Location: 240 Jellicoe St. Te Puke, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand

Salary Range: NZ$50,400-64,000/annum

JOB PURPOSE:
The Engineering Projects & Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading engineering improvement projects and overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure plant reliability, uptime, and efficiency. This role coordinates internal technicians and external contractors, ensures compliance with regulatory and engineering standards, and contributes to continuous improvement
Job Responsibilities:
Project Management
- Manage capital and improvement projects including equipment upgrades, automation, and plant enhancements.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and oversee procurement of required equipment and services.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and vendors to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Maintain detailed project documentation to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements
Maintenance Oversight
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for plant utilities and production equipment.
- Utilize CMMS systems such as SAP or Limble to manage maintenance tasks and records.
- Ensure inventory of tools, materials, and critical spare parts; coordinate with procurement teams.
- Conduct regular reviews to analyze equipment performance and reduce downtime
Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise maintenance technicians and oversee contractors’ performance.
- Assign tasks, provide technical guidance, and conduct training and performance evaluations.
- Promote continuous improvement through TPM, RCM, and Lean initiatives
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Enforce adherence to health and safety standards (e.g., WorkSafe) in all maintenance and project activities.
- Identify risks and lead or participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Support the HSE team in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
Process Improvement
- Analyze maintenance KPIs (e.g., MTTR, MTBF, downtime, cost) and drive operational efficiency.
- Recommend and implement improvements to increase equipment reliability and reduce operational risk.
Professional Development
- Continuously develop engineering and leadership skills through formal training and hands-on experience.
- Stay current with best practices in maintenance, asset management, and compliance.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and mentor junior team members to grow internal capability
Ad hoc
- Perform other tasks that may be assigned either individually or as part of a committee or team.
- From time to time, you may be directed to realign your efforts with the changing needs of the business.
Job Requirements:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance or project supervision.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance systems is an advantage
- Proven experience supervising teams or managing contractors is an advantage
