Description

Shifu Construction Limited based in Sommerville, Auckland, specialises in residential construction and renovation projects. We are looking for two Carpenters to join our awesome team. 

You will be expected to work at different sites throughout the Auckland region, a minimum of 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday as normal hours of work, and you may also be required to work on Saturday as well. Please note this is a permanent full-time role and the hourly pay rate would be $29.66-$32 based on the candidates' experience and skills.

Job Description for This Position

  • Interpreting and working from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the dimensions and layout of structures.

  • Measuring, cutting, and shaping materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall using hand tools, power tools, machinery, or other appropriate equipment.

  • Constructing structural frameworks including wall studs, floor joists, partitions, and doorframes.

  • Installing items such as doors, window frames, staircases, cabinetry, and fitted furniture as required by the project.

  • Installing internal structures including roofing timbers, partition walls, staircases, and skirting boards.

  • Assembling and securing materials using nails, screws, dowels, glue, or other fastening methods, as appropriate.

  • Building temporary formwork or supports for concrete placement.

  • Installing built-in components such as cupboards, shelving, and other fixtures.

  • Repairing or rebuilding wooden structures including doors, floors, frameworks, and cabinetry using appropriate carpentry tools and equipment.

  • Selecting and ordering appropriate materials and tools for specific tasks.

  • Ensuring all work complies with the New Zealand Building Code and maintaining a safe, tidy work environment.

Key Requirements for Successful Applicants

  • At least two years’ work experience in carpentry is required. 

  • Relevant qualification or certificate is an advantage.

  • Punctual and reliable with a positive can-do attitude will be key in this role

  • Be physically fit as the job involves heavy lifting.

  • A positive and willing attitude to learn and progress. 

  • Able to work with deadlines and schedules, and available to work weekends if required.
