The role:
Reporting to our Wānaka Production Manager, the Senior Assistant Accountant will be responsible for:
- Carrying out the bookkeeping, reporting and payroll functions for our client partners.
- Preparing budgets and cashflow forecasts using Fathom, Spotlight and Excel.
- Creating insightful management reports—from reconciling balance sheets to building complete board packs using tools like Fathom.
- Supporting AML compliance by designing, implementing, and following robust processes.
- Managing client invoicing and revenue recognition using XPM and FYI Elite.
- Assisting with carbon accounting work for clients.
You have:
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree.
- 3+ years’ experience as a Senior Assistant Accountant.
- Stellar communication, workload management and prioritisation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a solid grasp of accounting flows through to financial statements.
- Industry experience across tech, manufacturing, construction, tourism, not-for-profit, and property.
- A knack for margin analysis, production tracking, and assessing project profitability.
- Confidence switching clients’ payroll and reporting systems.
- Advanced Xero skills, plus experience with MYOB, Infusion, Smartly, iPayroll, PayHero, and Xero Payroll.
- Proven ability to build cashflow forecasts in Spotlight and Fathom.
- Xero Advisor, Xero Payroll, Fathom Advisor, and Spotlight Reporting certifications are preferred.
- Hands-on experience managing invoicing in FYI Elite and Xero Practice Manager.

This is a permanent, full-time role; 37.5 hours per week. Applicants must be willing to relocate to Wanaka and must specify their work rights in their application to be considered.
