Painter

B & G Painting provides top-quality interior and exterior painting services at affordable prices.  We need two experienced and hardworking painters to join our friendly team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate as well as protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings other structures
• Read work order or receives instructions from supervisor or homeowner regarding painting
• Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool and additionally removes old paint from surfaces, using paint remover, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting
• Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler, using caulking gun putty knife
• Select premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colours
• Remove fixtures, like pictures electric switch covers, from walls prior to painting, using screwdriver
• Spread drop cloths over floors as well as room furnishings, and covers surfaces, like baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape paper to protect surfaces during painting
• Paint surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers
• Simulate wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects
• Apply paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects
• Erect scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level
• May also hang wallpaper fabrics
• May wash surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover, using brush

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience as a painter (minimum 2 years experience).
• Solid knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and safety standards.
• Must have your own basic painting tools.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
• Valid Site Safe advantageous (but not essential).
• Have excellent knowledge of Health and Safety Practice
