We are a construction company based in Manukau, Auckland and are looking to hire a general construction worker specialised in bricklaying for our construction sites. An attractive remuneration and vehicle will be provided to the suitable candidate.

Tasks include:

  • studying plans and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures
  • sealing foundations with damp-resistant materials and spreading layers of mortar to serve as base and binder for blocks using trowels
  • laying bricks in rows, designs and shapes, and spreading mortar between joints
  • embedding blocks in mortar and removing excess mortar
  • checking vertical and horizontal alignment
  • cutting, shaping and polishing stones and bricks using machines and hand tools, and shaping bricks to fit irregular spaces
  • repairing and maintaining bricks, cement blocks and related structures
  • constructing walls using stone slabs and large masonry slab blocks
  • assist carpenters, concreters, and other tradespeople.
  • erect and dismantle temporary structures such as scaffolding, barricades, and ramps.

Job Requirements

  1. Bricklaying qualification or at least 5 years of bricklaying work experience.
  2. Must have experience in paving, brick and block laying, tiling, and general masonry.
  3. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  4. Strong attention to detail and precision.
  5. Good work attitude, physical fitness, and can work under various weather conditions.
  6. Drug-free with a clean police certificate
