Telecommunication Technician

Job Duties:

●       Studying drawing and plans and installing fibre optic cable by using network maps and drawings.

●       Troubleshooting problems that require cable repair, cable maintenance, splicing, fibre optic cabling and fusion splicing in commercial and domestic properties (FTTH projects).

●       Responding to escalations, jobs and alerts from dispatch.

●       Installation of BUDI, FTP and connecting to FAT or cabinet. Installing cable or ducting for ROW/MDU work, including trenching, concrete cutting, and other civil work.

●       Adjusting, replacing and repairing faulty items, and testing equipment using electronic instruments.

●       Documenting test results and FPA, completing safety reports and customer consents form. Attend training and safety meetings. Work safety at all times utilizing the necessary Personal Protection Equipment.

●       Installing and configuring the network equipment such as ONT (Optical Network Terminal) and connecting with RGW (Residential Gate Way)/ Wireless Modem and Router.

●       Installation and maintenance of networks between LANs, WANs, routers and modems by making Network Jack into the walls using cat5 cables.

●       Informing the respective Internet Service Providers about the new connections and their IP addresses through email or Phone call, Testing and troubleshooting.

●       Erecting, testing and maintaining aerial and underground cables and wires, and radio and mobile phone antennae.

Job requirements:

●       Must have a relevant qualification at Level 3 or higher in areas such as Computing, Networking, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field; OR at least one year of relevant work experience will be considered

●       Good customer service skills

●       You should be able to do heavy lifting and work at heights

●       Must be willing to work in confined spaces

●       An energetic personality and an enthusiastic approach to work is required
