Construction Labourer

Responsibilities:

1. Study and further comprehend the specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine dimensions and materials required.
2. Follow safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment and follow supervision where needed at all times.
3. Measure, cut, or shape timber, plastic, fiberglass and other construction materials as needed.
4. Construction site cleaning and preparation, including preparing plumbing and drainage system for installation under supervision.
5. Prepare framework for foundations and concrete pours.
6. Erect and construct frameworks and walls.
7. Install cladding and trusses.
8. Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors and other building fixtures.
9. Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures.
10. Work on top of stilts, ladders, scaffolding, or top beams of buildings as required.
11. Perform other reasonable construction-related tasks where required.

The candidate we are looking for:

1. Have at least 6 months of relevant work experience in the constuction industry.
2. Familiar with power tools and construction site machinery
3. Have basic reading skills with the current NZ construction standards and plans.
4. A basic understanding of NZ plumbing and electrical systems will be considered a plus, but not necessary.
5. A basic skill in plastering and joinery will be considered a plus, but not necessary.
6. Willing to undergo Drug and Alcohol test if required as we highly value our employees' and clients' safety.
7. A can-do attitude and reliability and be able to work unsupervised where fit.
8. Hard working and enthusiastic about the role, and attention to details.
9. Be able to work as part of a team and travel from site to site.
10. Be physically fit.
