Service Foods Wellington Butchery team seeks two experienced, committed and enthusiastic Cleaners to join their afternoon shift.

As a Cleaner, you are responsible for ensuring that the facilities, including all butchery and common areas, are maintained in a clean, hygienic, and orderly condition

  • Permanent, Part-time
  • Immediate start
  • Location: Upper Hutt, Wellington 
  • Days of work: Monday to Friday
  • Shift timings: 11.00 am to 3.00 pm (approx.)

The job:

Your primary responsibilities are to support the butchery team by ensuring that facilities are consistently clean, hygienic, and in an orderly condition at the end of each shift.

  • Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, wiping, vacuuming, mopping, polishing, scrubbing and sanitizing the butchery department.
  • Ensure the appropriate sanitising equipment is used and all hygiene standards are followed.
  • Empty and clean waste bins and receptacles as required.
  • Clean and sanitise surfaces, appliances, machines and equipment.
  • Replenish consumables such as paper towels and cleaning materials.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and required work-safe practices.
  • Safely operate cleaning machinery such as floor scrubbers, buffers and sweepers.

 

The person:

Our ideal candidate will possess some previous experience in a cleaning role, preferably in Food industry.

The skills and attributes needed:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in commercial/ warehouse/ butchery cleaning
  • Experience in retail or butchery environments is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling and modern cleaning practices.
  • Experience operating cleaning machinery (scrubbers, buffers, etc.) is desirable.
  • Physically fit with the ability to lift heavy items (up to 20kg) and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high cleanliness standards.
  • Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills; must be able to read and understand English instructions.
