Steelworks NZ Ltd is a family-owned structural steel business based in Tauranga specialising in projects from multi-tonne commercial & industrial to earthquake strengthening and residential projects across the Bay of Plenty. We have an experienced heavy metal welder/fabricator vacancy available to join our workshop. This is a full time position working minimum 40hrs/week, with wage rate between $29-$33/ hour (experience dependent with a minimum of two years).

Key attributes include:

  • At least two years’ experience fabricating and welding heavy metal structural steel.
  • Fabricate as per drawings and weld to specifications.
  • Current AS/NZS 2980 and/or Flux Cored Welding Qualifications (FCAW) or similar, and have the ability to gain AS/NZS 2980 certification to our WPS.
  • Ability to follow Weld Procedure Specifications.
  • Work confidently unsupervised.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Weld steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.
  • Have an eye for detail.
  • Work to time frames.
  • Positive and reliable work attitude.
