Hourly Rate or Salary Band: $29.67 – $35.00 per hour (depending on experience and skill level)
Main Tasks:
- Working with all different sorts of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
- Fabricate and assemble structural steel components used for export and packaging
- Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine fabrication job requirements
- Measure and mark out the size, shape, and location of cutouts and joints on steel stock
- Use specialised tools to cut, bend, or shape steel into desired structures or frames
- Join steel sections using welding, bolting, and riveting techniques
- Clean and finish welds by filing, chiselling, and grinding
- Sort, grade, and prepare structural steel for processing and dispatch
- Contribute to the fabrication of frames and supports for reinforced loads or steel packaging
- Ensure all work meets quality and safety standards in a busy yard environment
Additional Requirements:
- Proven experience as a structural steel fabricator or similar role. Must have at least 3 years relevant experience
- Proficiency in reading and working from blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong understanding of structural steel properties and welding techniques
- Ability to safely and effectively operate hand tools and power tools
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Physically fit and capable of handling heavy steel materials and machinery
