We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Store Manager to oversee daily operations at our busy pizza and takeaway store in Whangārei. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing staff, inventory, customer service, and overall store performance. The role demands hands-on leadership and strong business acumen to ensure profitability and high service standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan and direct daily operations of the store, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning
• Manage and lead a team, including training, rostering, supervising, and motivating staff
• Oversee inventory and stock levels, including ordering, receiving, and waste control
• Monitor sales and financial performance, including budgeting, pricing strategies, and cost control
• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction, addressing complaints and feedback promptly
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and hygiene regulations
• Develop and implement local marketing and promotional strategies to drive sales
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including sales targets and labour costs
• Maintain store cleanliness, safety, and security protocols
• Liaise with suppliers, and service providers, where applicable
• Prepare rosters and manage leave in accordance with operational needs

Skills and Experience Required:
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in a supervisory or management role in the retail food sector (e.g., fast food, takeaway, café, or pizza outlet),
OR
a New Zealand Level 4 or higher qualification in business, hospitality, or retail management
• Proven experience in staff supervision, customer service, and store operations
• Strong understanding of inventory control, food safety, and workplace health & safety
• Financial literacy to understand budgets, cost control, and basic accounting
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced food service environment
• Flexible to work on weekends, public holidays, and evening shifts as required.
• Must have a full and clean driver's licence.

Desirable Attributes:
• Prior experience managing a pizza outlet or quick service restaurant (QSR)
• Barista or food handling certification (advantageous)
