Job Description:

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Traffic Setup & Pack Down
• Lay out cones, signs, barriers, and other traffic control devices as per the approved TMP.
   Dismantle and pack down the site safely at the end of work.
   Ensure correct placement and visibility of signs and equipment at all times.
 

Live Traffic Control
• Operate Stop/Go signs or two-way radios to direct traffic safely.
   Monitor and control vehicle and pedestrian movements to ensure safety.
   React quickly to changing conditions on site (e.g. weather, emergency services, accidents)               

Safety Monitoring
• Ensure all safety protocols are followed by crew and site visitors.
   Conduct visual inspections of the traffic setup throughout the day to ensure compliance.
   Report any hazards, unsafe behaviour, or near-misses to the STMS immediately.


Communication
• Maintain constant communication with STMS, team members, and machinery operators.
   Communicate with the public in a respectful and professional manner when required.
   Provide clear instructions to co-workers and motorists to prevent confusion or accidents.


Record Keeping
• Assist STMS in documenting changes to the TMP if the layout needs to be adjusted.
   Log any incidents, vehicle interactions, or complaints that occur on site.


Maintenance & Equipment
• Keep traffic control equipment in good condition and report damaged items.
   Assist in loading and unloading equipment from trucks and trailers.
