1988 Investments Limited is seeking amotivated and customer-focused Retail Assistants to join our supermarket team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent service, maintaining store standards, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the store.

The role is full time with 30 hours gauranteed each week.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers and assist them in locating products and providing product information.

  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and preferences.

  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, store policies, and security practices.

  • Process sales transactions accurately using point of sale (POS) systems, including handling cash, EFTPOS, and other payment methods.

  • Receive, unpack, and arrange stock on shelves or in storage areas, ensuring items are correctly priced and displayed.

  • Monitor inventory levels and inform supervisors of stock shortages or reorder needs.

  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the sales floor, shelves, and workstations.

  • Assist in handling customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and efficiently.

  • Assist with stocktaking and inventory control tasks as required.

  • Observe workplace health and safety regulations and procedures.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Prior experience in a customer service or retail sales environment preferred but not essential.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A proactive and positive attitude with a strong work ethic.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.

  • Good numeracy skills and attention to detail.

  • Secondary school education or equivalent is essential.

Working Conditions:

  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and public holidays as per roster.

  • We require the person to be willing to work night shifts.
  • Physical capacity to stand for extended periods and perform tasks involving lifting and manual handling.
