• Must have 2 years of work experience OR 
  • No formal qualifications required, but relevant shearing experience is essential
  • Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed.

Applicants must have the following as per employer’s requirement: 

  • Applicants must be physically fit.
  • Applicants must pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Applicants must provide a CV.
  • Valid driver’s license

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Every Shearer shall diligently perform his/her work and properly conduct themselves on an Employer’s property or a client of the Employer and shall continue to do so during regular shearing hours
  • The approximate number of sheep to be shorn or crutched shall, on request of the Employee, be indicated to that employee by the Employer before commencement of such operations.
  • All sheep shall be taken carefully from the catching pen.
  • No person shall ill-treat any sheep.
  • No shearer shall turn out a sheep badly cut. In the case of a sheep being badly cut the shearer shall sew and disinfect the wound before the sheep is turned out.
  • No shearer shall be required to disinfect the sheep in other cases.
  • No shearer shall work outside the appointed time without prior agreement of the Employer or their agent.
  • Shearers shall provide and pay for clothing, handpieces with spline drives, combs, lifters and cutters in all circumstances.
  • Ridges, skin cuts and second cuts are to be kept to a minimum. If workmanship is not of a standard to satisfy a farm owner or their representative, or the Employer’s agent, or ganger, team leader or leading hand, an employee shearing may be asked to cease work immediately.
