Gateway Synergy is looking for highly experienced Project Support Officers for a government agency. An exciting opportunity is open for a rapidly growing project. Be part of a team that makes meaningful changes and improves Australian lives.


Key Responsibilities
Generic duties:
  1. Support processing and testing of energetic materials and explosive ordnance.
  2. Maintain laboratories, processing and test equipment.
  3. Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments, safe operating procedures and facility documentation.
  4. Troubleshoot problems with equipment and instrumentation.
  5. Ensure laboratory is stocked with consumable.
  6. Process and interpret test data and produce required reports.
Specific Duties:
  1. Undertake explosive ordnance processing activities including inert and energetic ingredient preparation, mixing and casting.
  2. Undertake mechanical and performance characterisation of energetic materials; including mechanical property assessment, burn rate determination and physical properties.
  3. Undertake a range of instrumental chemical and thermal analysis techniques on inert and energetic materials, including chromatographic and spectroscopic analysis, thermal analysis and other material property testing
  4. Sensitiveness testing of energetic materials against a range of external stimuli including impact, friction, electrostatic discharge, and temperature of ignition.
Ideally, the practitioners will have demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in the following areas;
  1. Conducting material processing, testing and/or analysis.
  2. Safely working in workshops, laboratories, or processing facilities.
  3. Ability to interpret and following testing protocols and standards.
  4. Preparation of and compliance with safety documentation including instructions and risk assessments.
  5. Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to collate, interpret and report technical information, concepts, procedures and laboratory test results.
  6. Understanding of WHS principles relating to hazardous material and laboratory and workshop environments.
  7. Experience in handling energetic materials is desirable but not essential.
Qualification(s): A tertiary qualification is science or engineering (desirable)
