Rigger Welder
George Grant Engineering (GGE) is a leading structural steel fabrication and erection company based in Auckland, delivering premium solutions across New Zealand’s commercial construction sector. We’re seeking a skilled Rigger Welder to join our site erection team.
About the Role
You’ll be working on high-profile commercial projects, erecting and welding structural steel components on-site. Your expertise in rigging, layout interpretation, and safe work practices will contribute to the precision and safety GGE is known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Rig and position structural steel members in line with erection sequences.
- Perform high-quality welds on-site per specified welding procedures.
- Interpret erection drawings and welding detail sheets accurately.
- Assist in crane lifting operations under direction of site leadership.
- Maintain compliance with all site safety protocols and GGE policies.
What We’re Looking For
- New Zealand Permanent Resident or Citizen.
- Fluent English communication (spoken and written).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in structural steel erection and on-site welding.
- Ability to read and interpret erection layouts and welding details.
- Current SiteSafe Passport, EWP, and Working at Heights certifications.
- Valid Welder Qualification Tickets (AS/NZS standards preferred).
- Strong understanding of health & safety requirements on top-tier NZ commercial sites.
- Team player with a proactive attitude and commitment to safety.
