Position: Horticulture Leading Hand

Number of Positions Available: 3
Location: Bay of Plenty
Pay Rate: $30 to $38 per hour
Minimum Hours of Work Per Week: 30
Maximum Hours of Work Per Week: 40

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience OR a Level 4 or above qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate daily orchard tasks such as thinning, pruning, harvesting, and canopy maintenance.

• Supervise and support seasonal and permanent workers on assigned blocks

• Monitor work standards and provide hands-on training to staff as required

• Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures

• Liaise with supervisors and managers to report progress, issues, or delays

• Maintain records of daily activities and labour usage

• Assist with pest and disease monitoring and control

• Check equipment before use and report maintenance needs

• Train team members in safe and efficient work methods

• Monitor weather and orchard conditions and adjust activities accordingly

• Encourage a positive and productive work environment

• Support in the implementation of orchard schedules and seasonal plans

• Ensure completion of assigned tasks within expected timeframes and quality standards
