Best Garden in Auckland is looking for some Gardeners to join our team. The role primarily involves maintaining the gardens of our clients’ homes. This is a full-time, permanent position with a minimum of 30 hours per week guaranteed. We offer an hourly rate ranging from $24 to $26 depending on your skills and experience.

Your main duties will include:

  • Plant, transplant, and care for a wide variety of flowers, shrubs, trees, and lawns based on seasonal and landscape design requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain lawn and garden areas by spreading topsoil, planting grass, laying instant turf, mowing, edging, trimming, fertilizing, watering (manually or via irrigation systems), and applying mulches or soil enhancers.
  • Weed and manage garden beds, applying appropriate control measures (including sprays) while maintaining soil health.
  • Prune, trim, and shape trees, hedges, and shrubs to encourage healthy growth and improve aesthetic appeal; install plant supports and protective devices as needed.
  • Lop and shape tree limbs using chainsaws and handsaws; assess tree health and determine appropriate treatments or removal if required.
  • Monitor and diagnose plant health issues such as pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies, and apply appropriate treatments (e.g., spraying, dusting, fertilizing).
  • Operate, maintain, and clean a variety of landscaping tools and equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and hedge cutters.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members, ensuring excellent customer service and addressing specific horticultural needs.

Our requirements for this role:

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in gardening
  • A NZ Register Level 4 qualification in gardening
  • Be able to arrange your own transportation within the Auckland region
  • Be able to work on weekends and public holidays when required.
  • Be flexible to work any day from Monday to Sunday during these hours: winter 7am -6pm, summer 7am-8pm
  •  Drug free
  • Clean police record
