We, L & W Equipment Group Ltd , are looking to hire a Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Christchurch, New Zealand for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing our Cummins engine heavy machinery and buses.

Days required: 5 days a week

Hours per week: minimum of 30 hours a week is guaranteed, maximum 50 hours of work per week

Hourly rate: $35.00- $40.00 depends on the coach experiences and level

Job description: 

  • Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy diesel engines 

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all machinery to ensure optimal performance

  • Adhere to safety standards and procedures at all times

  • Maintaining detailed records of serviced heavy machinery

  • Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist.

  • Maintaining a parts inventory.

  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop.

Job pre-requisites: 

  • At least 3 years diesel engine repair experience required, or relevant Level 4 qualification required.

  • A Cummins Engine repair technique or skills is preferred as all our vehicles are equipped with Cummins diesel engines

  • Must read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records.

  • Perform routine maintenance and other tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • May lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.

  • Ability to use the diagnostic equipment.

  • Experience with heavy equipment and as a diesel mechanic, diesel engine knowledge, or prepared to do on-the-job training.

  • Good hand-eye coordination.
