J Ghuman Holdings Limited is seeking a reliable and experienced Tractor Driver to join our dairy farm team permanently. This role is based at our dairy farm in Drummond, Southland.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate tractors and farm machinery for:
- Feeding out
- Spreading fertiliser
- Weed control
- Shift break fences and K-Line irrigation
- Carry out general fencing and farm maintenance tasks
- Assist with stock handling and yard work as needed
- Maintain and care for modern farm equipment
- Support seasonal leadership and task coordination as required
- Operate tractors and attached implements, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency of mechanical systems
- Conduct routine inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs of engines, transmissions, and hydraulics
- Monitor and troubleshoot mechanical faults, identifying issues in fuel, lubrication, or cooling systems
- Adjust and calibrate mechanical controls, linkages, and settings to suit varying operational needs
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repair activities, and operational hours for mechanical analysis
- Ensure safe operation of machinery in compliance with mechanical safety standards and operational guidelines
- Assist in modifying or adapting attachments and components for specific tasks, applying practical mechanical knowledge
- Uphold farm health and safety procedures and contribute to team wellbeing
- Any other farm duties assigned by the Farm Manager
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven tractor and machinery operating experience
- Stock handling experience and confidence working around livestock
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to “get stuck in”
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Reliable and detail-oriented, with leadership ability in peak seasons
- Full Driver’s Licence
- Relevant tertiary qualification or diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering
