The duties include:
· Prepare the surrounding area by covering with cloth or plastic to prevent mess; tape off areas as needed
· Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint, fixtures and washing walls, etc
· Fill holes and cracks on the surface, conceal and smooth the areas require painting
· Move furniture and equipment as necessary to reach the entire surface of the project
· Calculate the amount of paint and time required for the project
· Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right colour according to instructions
· Apply mixed paint and varnished to surfaces using hand/power tools, brushes, rollers and sprays
· Provide decorative and faux finishes as the project requires
· Identify and purchase the correct materials such as paint, brushes, and other supplies when required
· Clean up equipment and replace fixtures as required when project is complete
Although onsite training will be provided, the successful applicant must have one of the following:
- Have a relevant NZ Register Level 4 trade certificate, or equivalent, OR
- Have at least 2 years’ work experience in the same industry/field
