Auckland Blinds Limited, based in East Auckland, specialises in the manufacturing of high-quality curtains and blinds. We are currently seeking three reliable and experienced Industrial Sewing Machinist to join our dedicated and friendly team.

You will be expected to work at our premises located in the Auckland region, a minimum of 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday as normal hours of work, and you may also be required to perform on Saturday as well. Please note this is a permanent full-time role and the hourly pay rate would be $28.00-$30 based on the candidates' experience and skills.

Job Description for This Position

  • Must be able to operate a variety of machines efficiently such as Flat Sewer, Blind Hemmer, Over Locker, Pleating Machine and bar tack, etc.

  • Operate those machines with professional skills and sew curtains efficiently.

  • Start, stop and change speed of those machines with appropriate tools and methods.

  • Be able to work off drawings and follow work instructions.

  • Perform a coordinated action of industrial machine feet, curtain guides, blades and other attachments, and guiding parts under needles, following seams, edges and markings.

  • Able to insert bobbins, position and sew parts.

  • Be able to complete a product by cutting fabric to the right size and pack finished products.

  • Modify and adjust needles or other attachments to machines.

  • Perform inspection of stitching for faults.

  • Report to repair when machine malfunctions.

  • Maintain machines in good working order, by lubricating and servicing machines.

  • Attention to details for measuring and cutting to specs.

  • Be well organized and accurate throughout your day.

Key Requirements for Successful Applicant

  • At least two years’ of relevant experience working experience, such as operating industrial sewing machines, walking foot machines, and bar tacking machines, etc. 

  • Relevant qualification or certificate is an advantage.

  • Able to work independently and under pressure.

  • A positive and willing attitude to learn and progress. 

  • Able to work with deadlines and schedules, and available to work weekends if required.
