This role plays a key part in delivering Te Atamira’s vision by ensuring a consistently welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant experience for all visitors.

Mahi | The Role

As a first point of contact for the public, the role organizes and co-ordinates the day-to-day operations of our creative space, including delivering the boutique retail offering and co-ordinates space use in real time.

This role also plays a key role in programme delivery, building community connection and supporting the visibility, promotion and accessibility of the arts and cultural offerings within the space.

Some key aspects of the role are:

Plan, develop, and deliver Te Atamira’s high-quality multi-arts programme, including community, education, curatorial initiatives and fundraising events.  

Ensure programmes are inclusive, accessible, sustainable, locally responsive and delivered within budget and agreed KPIs.

Innovate and implement public programmes and outreach models, including after-school classes, holiday workshops, artist capability sessions, and events for underserved communities.

Develop a “menu” of creative experiences tailored for schools, corporate, and community groups.

Create culturally responsive and inclusive offerings, particularly for Māori, disabled, and ethnically diverse communities.

Contribute to funding applications and donor engagement for programme-related initiatives.

Manage efficient use of space, including staffing and supplies, and mitigate operational risks.

Lead the development and implementation of Te Atamira’s education strategy with a focus on lifelong learning.

Lead and coordinate, support a team of tutors, casual staff, and facilitators, ensuring alignment with Te Atamira’s values.

Ō Pūkenga me Ō Wheako | Your Skills and Experience

Essential:

Strong communication: both verbal and written with a great attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and inclusive practice.

Tertiary qualification in arts administration, visual, material or performing arts.

At least 3 years experience in an arts coordinator/management related position.

 

Location: Te Atamira, Frankton, Queenstown.

Hours: 40 hrs/week (Mon–Fri with some flexibility for after-hours programmes).
