JA BUILDING SUPPLIES LIMITED is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to manage and maintain the company’s financial records. The role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our builder hardware trading business by handling day-to-day accounting and financial tasks with accuracy and efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintaining and balancing financial records using both manual and computerized accounting systems.
  • Monitoring cash flow and lines of credit to support the company’s trading operations.

  • Preparing and producing financial statements, budgets, expenditure reports, and financial analyses using ledgers, account books, and accounting software packages.

  • Preparing invoices, purchase orders, and processing bank deposits to ensure timely payments and receipts.

  • Reconciling accounts against monthly bank statements and resolving discrepancies.

  • Verifying recorded transactions, identifying errors or irregularities, and reporting them to management.

  • Preparing tax-related forms and reports, including the calculation and reporting of Goods and Services Tax (GST) paid and collected.

 

 

Skills and Requirements:

 

  • Relevant qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Finance, or at least three years of relevant work experience is required.(Either one will do)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to reconcile accounts and identify discrepancies effectively.

  • Strong understanding of GST and business tax obligations in New Zealand.

  • Good communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to liaise with management and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced trading environment.
