The Role

We are seeking two experienced GIB fixer/stopper/labourers to join our team. These are full-time, permanent roles with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week.

Work is primarily on residential and commercial sites. You’ll be responsible for high-quality plasterboard installation and finishing. Travel between job sites throughout the South Canterbury region is required — transport is provided or mileage is reimbursed when applicable.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Measure, cut, and install plasterboard (GIB) sheets on walls and ceilings

  • Secure sheets using fixings, adhesives, and appropriate methods

  • Apply jointing tape and compound to joins, corners, and fixings

  • Sand joints to Level 4 or 5 finish ready for painting

  • Conduct plasterboard repairs and patching when needed

  • Assist with general site labour, loading/unloading, and preparation

  • Maintain tidy, safe work areas in line with site procedures

  • Work effectively with site supervisors and team members to meet deadlines and quality expectations


Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of proven experience in GIB fixing, stopping, or interior plastering

  • Full driver’s licence and reliable transport

  • Ability to travel between job sites across South Canterbury

  • Physically fit, dependable, and able to work unsupervised

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship

  • Willingness to follow safety protocols and contribute to a positive team culture


Desirable:

  • Site Safe or equivalent construction-related certifications

  • Familiarity with mechanical stopping tools or sanding systems

  • Previous experience on larger-scale commercial projects
