Role Summary

Deep Energy is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead end‑to‑end sourcing and procurement across two core domains: (1) electricity wholesale & retail supply, and (2) construction of utility‑scale solar power farms and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The role owns category strategy, supplier selection, contracting, logistics, inventory, and cost/risk optimization for panels, inverters, balance‑of‑system (BOS), power storage equipment, and grid‑side materials.

Key Responsibilities

A) Electricity Wholesale & Retail Sourcing

  • Source and negotiate wholesale energy, PPAs and financial hedges aligned to retail load shape and risk appetite.

  • Run RFPs with generators/retailers; evaluate pricing, credit terms, shape/firmness, curtailment, penalties, environmental certificates (RECs/GOOs).

  • Coordinate with Trading/Risk to manage hedge books, exposure limits, and settlement; maintain supplier/ISDA/EFET files.

  • Secure network, metering, and ancillary services to support customer growth and new site energization.

B) Solar Farm & BESS Project Procurement

  • Develop category strategies for PV modules, inverters, racking/trackers, BESS, and BOS, optimizing LCOE/TCO and delivery risk.

  • Lead RFx and technical due diligence with Engineering (bankability, certifications, reliability data, PVEL results, warranty backing, service footprint).

  • Structure EPC, BOP, and supply contracts (INCOTERMS 2020, LDs/bonuses, performance guarantees, availability, liquidated damages, delivery schedules, spares, O&M kits).

  • Oversee factory audits, FAT/SAT, inspection & test plans (ITPs), and quality hold points.

  • Plan global logistics (sea/air/road), customs clearance, HS codes, duties, insurance, and on‑site receiving; manage storage conditions for modules and batteries.

C) Supplier & Contract Management

  • Build multi‑vendor panels for critical equipment; negotiate framework/master supply agreements and rate cards.

  • Track OTIF, NCRs, MTBF/field failure rates; lead warranty recovery and supplier corrective actions (8D).

  • Monitor supplier financial health and ESG performance; ensure ethical sourcing and anti‑bribery compliance.

D) Inventory, Planning & Cost Control

  • Set min/max levels, safety stock, and reorder points for critical spares; optimize working capital.

  • Validate invoices, manage price indices/escalation clauses, and deliver annual cost‑down programs.

  • Maintain accurate BOM and item masters; drive VAVE (value analysis/value engineering) with Engineering.

E) Risk, Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with HSE and electrical codes; maintain documentation for grid connection and commissioning.

  • Reference and enforce relevant standards (examples): IEC 61215/61730 (modules), IEC 62109 (inverters), IEEE 1547/UL 1741 (interconnection), NFPA 855 & UL 9540/9540A (BESS), ISO 9001/14001/45001 (supplier systems).

  • Maintain force majeure, price adjustment, and change‑control mechanisms in contracts.

F) Data, Systems & Reporting

  • Use ERP/e‑sourcing tools to run events, scorecards, and contracts; maintain a clean P2P process with strong controls.

  • Publish weekly dashboards on cost, schedule adherence, risk, quality, and LCOE impact; present sourcing recommendations to leadership.

G) People & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Build and mentor a small purchasing/expediting team; develop category playbooks and SOPs.

  • Align cross‑functional stakeholders; lead make/buy decisions and negotiation strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or related;

  • 5+ years strategic procurement experience, with at least 3+ years in power/renewables or grid‑scale storage.

  • Proven delivery of multi‑million‑dollar CAPEX sourcing and energy supply agreements.

  • Strong contract drafting/negotiation skills (EPC, MSAs, PPAs, EFET/ISDA) and knowledge of INCOTERMS 2020.

  • Familiarity with PV/BESS technologies, grid interconnection, QA/QC, and HSE.

  • Advanced analytics (Excel/Sheets, Power BI/Tableau); ERP/e‑sourcing (SAP/Ariba, Oracle, Coupa, Jaggaer, or similar).

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs/OKRs)

  • Cost outcomes: % savings vs. should‑cost; LCOE/TCO reduction; variance to budget.

  • Schedule: OTIF delivery rate; critical path adherence; RFx cycle time.

  • Quality: Incoming defect rate, NCR closure time; warranty recovery; field failure rate trend.

  • Risk: Hedge coverage vs. policy; supplier risk score; exposure to single‑source items.

  • Compliance: Contract coverage % of spend; audit findings; ESG/supplier code adherence.

  • Working capital: Inventory turns; DPO optimization; logistics cost per MW/MWh.

  • Stakeholder: Project team satisfaction; supplier scorecard improvements.

Tools & Systems

  • ERP/P2P (SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Dynamics, or Coupa); e‑sourcing/CLM (Ariba/Jaggaer/Icertis); project tools (MS Project/Primavera); BI (Power BI/Tableau); document control (SharePoint/Confluence); risk & quality tools.

Working Conditions

  • Office + site/factory travel (up to 30%); ability to visit ports, warehouses, supplier factories, and construction sites.

  • Capable of handling module/battery storage safety protocols and PPE requirements.

Reporting Line

  • Reports to: Director

Preferred/Bonus Experience

  • Experience with trackers and complex terrain layouts; containerized BESS; SCADA/EMS integration.

  • PPA origination or retail pricing; renewable certificates trading; knowledge of local content requirements.

  • Start‑up or fast‑growth utility/IPP environment.
