Motor Mechanic

Key Responsibilities:

·         Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and components

·         Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, and steering mechanisms

·         Inspecting parts and checking for wear, damage, or safety concerns

·         Repairing and replacing defective components and reassembling systems

·         Referring to service manuals and manufacturer guidelines as required

·         Performing scheduled maintenance (e.g. oil changes, lubrications, engine tune-ups) to ensure optimal performance and environmental compliance

·         Reassembling engines and systems after repair

·         Testing and adjusting mechanical parts to meet performance standards

·         Using diagnostic computers and tools to assess faults and performance

·         May inspect vehicles for roadworthiness and issue certificates or identify necessary repairs

·         May attend to vehicle breakdown service calls

Requirements:

·         NZQF Level 4 qualification in Automotive Engineering (or equivalent) or A minimum of two years' relevant experience.

·         Sound understanding of automotive diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance

·         Strong troubleshooting skills with both mechanical and electrical systems

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team
