An exciting opportunity is available for a Rural Mail and Courier Driver to join our team in a Permanent Full-time role. Responsibilities include the safe, timely collection and delivery of freight, mail, and courier items across rural areas mainly Tai Tapu and Motukarara.

You’ll deliver daily parcels, liaise with the team, and provide excellent customer service. As the face of our company in rural communities, you’ll build trust and long-term customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely loading, transporting, and delivering mail, courier parcels, and freight to customers, including rural addresses.
  • Sorting and preparing rural mail and courier deliveries at the depot prior to departure.
  • Ensuring accuracy and efficiency when delivering to rural letterboxes, homes, farms, and businesses.
  • Collecting outgoing mail and parcels from rural customers as required.
  • Assisting with loading and unloading items from vehicles to avoid damages.
  • Following all safety, security, and operational procedures at all times.
  • Maintaining communication with management regarding any changes to deliveries, routes, or schedules.
  • Reporting hazards, road conditions, and any obstructions affecting safe and timely deliveries.
  • Adhering to assigned routes, rural delivery schedules, and timeframes.
  • Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a clean, safe driving record.
  • Preparing and maintaining daily delivery records, manifests, and reports.
  • Keeping the company vehicle clean, fuelled, well-maintained, and ready for daily use.
  • Supporting and liaising with rural customers to provide excellent service, answering questions, and handling complaints in a professional manner.
  • Building positive relationships with rural community members to maintain trust and reliability.
  • Supervising field crews during network activities where required, ensuring work is completed safely, reliably, and efficiently.
  • Driving team performance by assessing competence and identifying development needs.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must have a clean criminal record and be able to pass a Ministry of Justice background check.
  • Full New Zealand Class 1 driver’s license with a clean driving record (Class 2 preferred but not essential).
  • Available to work from Monday to Sunday with flexible start and finish times (depending on daily mail and parcel volumes).
  • Physically fit and comfortable lifting up to 25kg daily.
  • Good numeracy and reading skills for handling delivery documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure correct delivery of mail and courier items.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions where practically possible — no excuses.
