We are a fire protection company in Auckland and are looking for an experienced fire sprinkler fitter.

As a Sprinkler Fitter, you will be responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing fire sprinkler systems to ensure buildings comply with fire safety regulations. The successful candidate will work between 30 to 40 hours weekly, earning a pay rate of $30 to $35 per hour, based on skills and experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Study plans, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and materials for fire protection sprinkler systems.
  • Organize and prepare materials required for installations
  • Perform fire sprinkler installations according to project instructions and specifications: fire hydrants, hose reels, pumps, and related equipment, ensuring conformance to relevant codes and safety standards.
  • Cut, bend, weld, and join pipes, valves, and fittings for fire suppression systems.
  • Test, commission, and certify installations for correct function and compliance.
  • Inspect, service, and repair sprinkler and hydrant systems to ensure operational readiness.
  • Monitor job progress to ensure work is carried out efficiently and on schedule
  • Oversee site Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) issues and attend site safety meetings as required.
  • Coordinate with other trades and contractors to achieve effective system integration and timely completion.
  • Prepare reports and maintain detailed records of inspections, testing, and repairs.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in fire sprinkler fitting
  • Preference will be given to those with construction site experience
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with pipe fabrication, fitting, and fire protection system commissioning.
  • Have practical technical knowledge and understanding of Fire Protection systems of all types
  • Have worked in the industry and be familiar with the regulations and installation techniques  
  • Strong understanding of sprinkler installation practices and various sprinkler products
  • Have comprehensive knowledge and experience with relevant New Zealand fire standards, NZS 4541:2013
  • High standard of Health & Safety, workmanship, and ethics
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Team player who will relish a challenge and understand the importance of being active and positive participants in a high-performing team environment
  • Proof of eligibility to work in New Zealand in a permanent, full-time role
  • Current New Zealand driver’s licence
