Job Title: Drainlayer
We are seeking Drainlayer to install, maintain, and repair underground drainage systems across residential and commercial construction sites. This role involves working with wastewater, stormwater, and subsoil drainage systems in accordance with New Zealand Building Code standards and local council regulations.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
• Read blueprints and drawings to understand or plan the layout of drainage, wastewater and water supply systems
• Excavate the working area and the required trenches using the earthmoving excavator and other tools
• Set out drainage lines to ensure correct fall
• Cut, assemble and install pipes, valves, fittings, and fixtures for wastewater or sewage systems
• Connect drainage systems to council mains or septic systems
• Install stormwater and wastewater systems, underground drainage systems, and water supply piping systems
• Utilize hand tools in fitting of valves, couplings and components for tanks, pumps or other drainage systems
• Perform system testing
• Backfill the trenches to required levels and gradients using the earthmoving excavator and other tools
• Maintain, repair, and replace existing drainage infrastructure
• Complete work reports, as-builts and compliance documentation
• Maintain a safe and tidy work environment and follow all health and safety regulations
• Ensure compliance with building codes, specifications, and regulation
Pay: Minimum $30.00 / hour Maximum $40.00 / hour
Guaranteed hours of work per week: permanent full time, minimum 30 hours
Requirements for the job:
• Have at least 1-2 years of work experience in the construction industry or a similar field
• Registration is not required. Exemption license is also acceptable – supervision would be provided.
• Competency with operating earthmoving machinery, equipment, levels, power tools and other tools commonly used for drainage projects
• Be physically fit and healthy
• Full-time availability, may work on the weekends
• No criminal record
• Candidates need to be NZ citizen/resident
