Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of suspension and steering systems to identify wear, damage, or other issues affecting alignment.
- Steering and Suspension Checks: Inspecting and adjusting steering and suspension components for proper alignment and functionality.
- Road Testing: Conducting test drives to evaluate vehicle handling and confirm alignment adjustments.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operating hoists, alignment machines, and other tools required for the job.
- Alignment Adjustments: Use computerised alignment equipment and specialised tools to adjust the vehicle’s wheel angles to manufacturer specifications.
- Diagnostic Testing: Test-drive vehicles to accurately diagnose alignment problems and confirm that repairs have corrected them.
- Tyre & Wheel Services: Perform services such as tire rotation and balancing, and dismount/remount tires as needed.
- Customer Communication: Clearly explain detected alignment issues and recommended repairs or services to customers or service advisors.
- Documentation: Accurately record all work performed, findings, and customer interactions in repair orders or shop systems.
- Compliance: Ensuring work meets relevant New Zealand Transport Agency regulations and health and safety standards.
Requirements and Skills:
- Proven Experience: At least one year of relevant experience.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of heavy vehicle steering, suspension, and braking systems.
- Certifications: Relevant automotive trade qualification, such as a New Zealand Certificate in Heavy Wheel Alignment, is highly desirable, but not required.
- Driver's Licence: Required to have a valid full New Zealand Driver's Licence (or equivalent) and be able to drive manual transmission vehicles.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision and attention to detail are crucial for this role.
- Work Ethic: Must be a reliable, self-motivated, and honest team player with a strong work ethic.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
- Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.
- Must be NZ Citizen, NZ Resident or eligible to work in NZ.

This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$30 and NZ$33, depending on experience. The work hours are from 45 hours minimum to 60 hours maximum per week, and they are to be worked between Monday and Friday between 7.30 am and 5 pm. They may be required to work on weekends.
