Job Summary

L&X Company Ltd, a New Zealand–registered rose nursery business based in Auckland, is seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter to support the maintenance and upgrading of our nursery and horticultural facilities. This is a full-time role focused on delivering high-quality construction, repair, and modification work essential for the smooth operation of our horticultural business.

Key Responsibilities

A. Infrastructure Maintenance & Upgrades

• Repair or replace damaged greenhouse panels and plastic tunnel houses
• Construct and maintain wooden seedling racks and nursery shelving
• Build and repair workbenches, seedling stations, and storage cabinets
• Maintain doors, trellises, and fences used for plant support and access control

B. Safety & Compliance

• Build and maintain compliant handrails, ramps, and safety barriers
• Conduct routine checks and repairs of staff facilities (toilets, lunchrooms, rest areas)
• Provide timely response to urgent repairs and modifications

C. Operational Efficiency Improvements

• Design and install customised storage racks and shelving for produce handling
• Construct wooden pallets and boxes for sorting and packing produce
• Modify and maintain nursery trailers, trolleys, and transport carts

Terms and Conditions

Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week

Pay Rate: $26.50 – $30.00 per hour (based on skills and experience)

Work Location: South Auckland

Start Date: Immediate or by agreement

Minimum Requirements

• At least two years of proven work experience in carpentry
• Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools
• Physically fit and capable of manual lifting and outdoor work
• Knowledge of workplace safety and compliance requirements is preferred
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or in a team
• A current NZ driver licence is preferred
