Pay Rate: minimum $286 / hour     maximum $30 / hour

Guaranteed hours of work per week:  at least 30 hours

 

Main duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

a. Testing old paint surfaces to ensure that the correct techniques for removal are undertaken (i.e. identification of lead paint)
b. remove old-paint (by sanding, heat gun or other methods deemed
appropriate in
 the circumstances)
c. remove wallpaper and other applications which have been applied to walls or
surfaces
d. filling holes and cracks including identifying the most appropriate products
for each surface imperfection
e. sealing surfaces and ensuring a smooth base finish allowing paint to be
applied

  • To apply paints, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and spraying
  • To ensure that scaffolding, ladders and other related equipment are erected
    safely and are securely fastened or placed, so that injuries can be prevented and
    applying protective covers to guard from splatter and damage from equipment
  • To hang wallpaper, match patterns and trim edges on occasion staff may be required to complete small maintenance jobs which ensure that the paint can be applied to the highest standard - this includes repairing gib walls and windows
  • It is important that staff ensure that doors and windows swing correctly after
    paint has been applied and that any imperfections are identified and corrected.
  • To ensure that the required finishing standards are achieved at all times.
  • To always attempt to improve on existing standards of work.
  • To perform any other reasonable duties as required by your Manager.
  • To ensure that all equipment are kept clean and locked when not in use.
  • Follow all instructions laid down in the schedule of work or as requested by your Manager.
  • To attend appropriate training sessions to update knowledge of equipment, materials and procedures.
  • To attend every shift in a presentable and hygienic state.
  • To keep uniform and P.P.E. in an acceptable manner.
  • To perform other duties as required by your Manager.
  • Allaccidents and near misses are reported within a timely manner and through relevant channels to your Manager
  • To participate in the delivery of the industrial industries development of best practice and continuous improvement initiatives

 

Requirements for the job:

  • At least 2-3 year relevant work experience
  • Full time availability Monday to Friday and may work during weekends
  • No criminal record
  • Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select mix and apply them
  • Solid knowledge of construction painting techniques
  • Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes caulking guns etc.)
