About the Role:

Location:  Auckland

Minimum guaranteed hours of work:  37.5 hours per week

Hourly rate:  $35.00 - $36.00 per hour

Terms:  Fulltime, Permanent

This role will be ideal for someone who has a solid background in accounting and who is looking for a fresh challenge. The role will suit someone that is used to working autonomously and in a tight-knit team and who is keen to work for a reputable New Zealand business in the financial services sector.

  • Key accountabilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
  •      Accurate and timely financial processes and reporting for two of our operating companies.
  •      Preparation of monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet for two of our operating companies.
  • ·      Maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our general ledger and associated sub systems.
  • ·         Preparation of the Group’s quarterly FBT returns
  • ·         Maintenance of the Group’s Fixed Asset Register
  • ·         Reconciliation of the UniMed Health Insurance and Asteron Life Insurance
  • ·         Manage the balance sheet reconciliation process for two of our operating companies.
  • ·         Processing documentation related to accounts payable
  •             Support to the external audit process
  •       Modelling around forecasts, business performance etc.


About You:

The right candidate for the role will have:

  • A solid track record demonstrating your ability to embrace problem solving, a high degree of emotional intelligence and enjoy working with a collaborative team
  • Always exercises sound judgement
  • Adaptable, innovative and possesses a growth mind set
  • Strong experience in roles requiring periodic financial accounting and reporting and ability to keep pace with a busy office. 
  • You will be a team player who is able to communicate well with a range of internal and external stakeholders. 


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • ·     Ability to keep pace with a busy office and juggle multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • ·         2-3 years’ experience in a financial accounting or similar role.
  • ·         A relevant tertiary level qualification in Finance.
  • ·         Detailed knowledge of financial accounting principles and applications.
  • ·         Excellent knowledge of MS Excel.
  • ·         A team player with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
